Keanu Reeves has agreed to undergo a DNA test

September 4, 2009

Matrix star Keanu Reeves has agreed to undergo a DNA test after a woman claimed he’s the father of her four grown-up children.

Karen Sala, who is seeking millions in spousal and child support from the ‘Speed’ actor, filed suit against Reeves in May this year, seeking a paternity test to prove he fathered her offspring, who are all now in their mid-20s.

The actor denied he had a relationship with the Sala, and was seeking a court dismissal over the claims.

But Reeves has now finally given in to her demands to officially verify whether he is the father by undergoing a DNA test during the next few weeks.

MJ’s secret ‘lovechild’ surfaces

July 23, 2009

An upcoming dancer has been described in a media report as the alleged secret lovechild of late Michael Jackson.

Omer Bhatti, 25, was allegedly born following Jackson’s brief affair with his Norwegian nanny Pia, who is now married to the pop star’s former Pakistani driver.

Pia and her Pakistani husband Riz, who are in their late 40s, worked for the King of Pop in the US before returning to Norway in early 80s.

Jackson, who died last month aged 50, is said to have told his friends in 2004 that Bhatti was born following a one-night stand in 1984, Sun online reported. And now his alleged son is reportedly planning to undergo a DNA test to discover the truth.

Bhatti, 25, who has an uncanny resemblance to the pop star, was spotted sitting alongside Jackson’s family in the front row at the memorial, fuelling speculations about his relationship with the pop star.

When contacted about the memorial, Riz confirmed that Bhatti sat in the front row at Jackson’s service.

“Yeah, yeah, I know because I was watching. I told my wife, ‘Just wait until the press see this. It’s not a small thing’.”

However, Riz refused to confirm or deny that Bhatti was Jackson’s son. He told reporters, “Make what you like. I don’t want to discuss anything.”

Jackson is believed to have sent two employees to Oslo to help his former nanny raise Bhatti after he was born.

Jackson first met his lovechild in 1996 in a hotel in Tunisia. Bhatti was 12-year-old at that time. The pop star and his alleged child started appearing in the public together soon after their first meeting and they even performed together.

Bhatti was also present when police raided Jackson’s Neverland ranch in 1993 to investigate child abuse charges.

Jackson remained close to his son right until his death on June 25.

“Loyalty is the most important thing for me. I have contact with Michael, and I think my loyalty to him is the reason we still have our contact. He is an unbelievably good human being,” Bhatti, who idolises Jackson, had said in an interview in 2008.

The wannabe singer, who is trying to make a name for himself in the world of hip-hop, has adapted the stage name O-Bee and plans to stay in Los Angeles to develop his career.

India will enjoy Angels & Demons: Tom Hanks

July 7, 2009

Hollywood star Tom Hanks has promised his fans in India that his controversial Angels & Demons will live up to their expectations as they have a “soulful liking for thrillers”. He also says he would love to come to India to “be among the most lovable human fraternity”.

Hanks is glad that Angels & Demons, a sequel to worldwide hit The Da Vinci Code, is releasing the same day in India as in the US. “I am happy that it is not being released in phases … We would like to give our (Indian) audiences the thrill of seeing an exceptionally adventurous thriller along with the US on May 15,” Hanks said in an e-mail interview.

“They have a soulful liking especially for thrillers…I hereby promise my fans in India that they would surely enjoy this movie and it would definitely live up to their expectations,” he added.

Asked if he had visited India, the 52-year-old actor said: “Honestly, I did not get an opportunity to be there. But I wish some day I will be among the most lovable human fraternity. Indians are considered very warm- hearted and humble people so I also want to have a share of that warmth.”

The Oscar-winning actor, best known for his performances in Philadelphia, Forrest Gump and The Terminal, has heard a lot about the Indian film industry and is game for working here though he has not been “approached yet” for any project.

“Who doesn’t know about the Indian film industry nowadays…but I never have been part of it. I know many actors but can’t really pronounce their names well. Sorry for that though.

“If I get an opportunity to venture into such a project, I will seriously think about it. I want to experience the uniqueness of foreign movies and their calibre,” he added.

Directed by Ron Howard, Angels & Demons is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Dan Brown. While the book is a prequel to The Da Vinci Code, Howard chose to treat Angels & Demons as a sequel since many had read the novel after The Da Vinci Code.

Distributed worldwide by Columbia Pictures, it also stars Ayelet Zurer and Ewan McGregor apart from Hanks, who reprises his role as Harvard professor and religious expert Robert Langdon.

In the film, Langdon attempts to thwart the Illuminati, a 400-year-old underground organisation and their plans to wreak havoc on the Vatican.

The movie, like The Da Vinci Code, is facing the ire of church officials for its alleged ‘religious overtones’ and ‘anti-Catholic sentiments’. But Hanks stressed that the film does not intend to offend any religious community.

“The film is not made to raise debates or ensue into offensive gestures over any community. Neither have we come up with any stringent solution. At the core of it all is the age-old contrast between science and religion.

“Angels & Demons is an exemplary attempt by Ron to showcase the impact of technology to keep the faith alive among humans. I don’t see it as an offence made on the Catholic community over the globe,” the actor said.

Hanks is also “excited” and “overwhelmed” that the 138-minute thriller “has captured mass-fan following” despite the controversies. The trailer for the movie has already crossed a hit of over 1.2 million views on YouTube.

The actor said he had to read “a lot of stuff on Illuminati era and ancient symbols” and William Manchester’s book A World Lit only By Fire for his role. He added that the film “has the same dose of high-end thrill and is equally fast-paced as the novel”.

Apart from Angels & Demons, his upcoming movies include Major Matt Mason, Toy Story 3 and Boone’s Lick.

Hrithik’s resemblance to Jesus Christ

June 8, 2009

Latin American distributors, who saw the international version of Rakesh Roshan’s Kites, are stunned by Hrithik’s resemblance to Jesus Christ in the film.

It’s been two weeks since the Bollywood film was showcased at the Cannes Film Festival, but the buzz around it still continues at the French Riviera. And, another thing, if the Mexican actress Barbara Mori has taken Bollywood by storm, Hrithik has done the same thing in Latin America. Foreign distributors were reportedly taken up by the searing intensity in his eyes, his lithe frame and Adonis-like tan. Some of them were heard commenting that Hrithik would be the ideal actor to play Christ in a western production.

DC Youth Orchestra

May 30, 2009

If you had the means to send your children to the best music classes, would you send them to a run-down building with dirty bathrooms and broken windows?

That’s exactly what happens for students in the popular DC Youth Orchestra, an independent program in Washington, D.C., which borrows space at a local public high school. There are hundreds of youth orchestras around the U.S., but this one has found a way to be affordable, competitive and diverse — in every sense of the word.

For Ava Spece, it’s the same story every Saturday morning: cockroaches and burned-out lights. Spece is executive director of the DC Youth Orchestra, or DCYO. She can rattle off a litany of problems she faces at Coolidge High School, where nearly 600 students gather every Saturday to take classes and practice with one of 12 different performing ensembles.

The halls ring with a wide range of music. At one end of the school, a beginning orchestra sounds like it has a lot of room for growth. At the other end of the hall, there’s the more advanced Youth Orchestra, the top dog of the program. And there’s just about everything in between: a junior philharmonic, jazz ensembles and chamber groups.

Lindsay wants to be back with Ronson

May 4, 2009

Lindsay Lohan is trying her best to get back together with her ex-partner Samantha Ronson and has arranged to be in London the next month at the same time as the DJ.

The 22-year-old actress has arranged a photoshoot for British Vogue and is working on securing a series of club appearances so that she can meet Ronson who will be in the city in June for a series of gigs. “Lindsay has been quite crafty and has arranged it so she comes to London a few days before Sam and establishes herself as a force here. Sam has no idea she is coming to London and some of Lindsay’s friends have told her the move might backfire and Sam might cancel in fury,” a source close to Lohan told the newspaper.

Lohan, who is currently vacationing in Hawaii, and the celebrity DJ had split last month after a series of public rows, but rumours suggest that the couple are trying to rekindle their romance.

The rumours started spreading after the DJ changed her relationship status from “single” to “it’s complicated” on her Facebook page, after Lindsay visited her at her LA home.
