IPL’s popularity be affected by being held outside India?

March 23, 2009

The Indian Premier League will be played outside India. Barely two weeks before the high profile tournament was to begin, South Africa and England are being considered possible venues.

The billion dollar baby that is the IPL is prepared to incur any costs to make sure the event goes ahead as per the original dates and original schedule of 59 games.

Elections are bigger and we have to respect the needs of the government. But we are from the entertainment field, BCCI is from Sports so that is important that sports and enter go on as well. This is an attempt to resolve the problem and no to create one.”

So, with 19 days to go for the tournament and a toss up between South Africa and England as the possible venues, England could have the edge because the 20-20 world cup starts immediately after the IPL gets over.

The team owners who will be most inconvenienced by the logistics were united in their support for the IPL’s decision.
